:yeah:  Two of the worst relegated to the "Humor Them" stage.

I shudder to think who you consider, "the best".

Rand Paul.

Then, uhhh, Jeb?

Rand Paul's notion of "liberty" would be appealing to Southern White man.

Peter is neither of those things.

I am both. Though Raz should keep in mind, a Southern man don't need him around anyhow.

I was 100% sure you were black.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Ben Carson: Egyptian pyramids were grain stores, not pharaohs' tombs

Americans are souring on Obama's approach to fighting the Islamic State, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll that also found deep pessimism about U.S. prospects for success in Afghanistan and uncertainty about Obama's plan to leave thousands of troops there when he leaves office.

Egypt's pyramids were built by the biblical Joseph to store grain and were not, as archaeologists believe, tombs for pharaohs, Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson has said.

The retired neurosurgeon, who is seeking his party's nomination for the White House, made these remarks in a 1998 address at Andrews University, a school associated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, to which he belongs, in a video posted on Buzzfeed on Wednesday.

The church is a conservative evangelical Christian one.

I"My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain," Carson – who last week overtook Republican rival Donald Trump for the first time in a national poll – told graduates in his address.
"Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs' graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it.

"And I don't think it'd just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain."

Asked on Wednesday if he still held these views, Carson told CBS News: "It's still my belief, yes."

I see his contributions to the field of archaeology rival those to the field of politics.  :hmm:

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Carson's views on the pyramids are odd, but they seem harmless to me.

Any one of his odd beliefs in themselves are harmless. It is the sum of them put together.

And of course it would be nice if he had a few views that made him sound like somebody who should be in high office.

Alone, yes. I can't imagine a scenario in which the fact that the pyramids were tombs and not grain silos would make any difference to a President.

But they indicate he bases his opinions on things on his religious foibles, not on stuff like facts, which isn't so harmless on other issues.

It's illustrative of his way of thinking.
A cursory review of the available facts about the pyramids  -- e.g. the paucity of internal space -- and the most basic reasoning processes would indicate the problem with the theory.

But the Bible talks about Egyptians storing grain so what else could they be?

I guess we're lucky that the Bible didn't delve much into neurosurgery or he would have had a short career.

Strange how a man can take scientific evidence and build a successful career around it in one field, but reject it completely in another field.

Guys, Carson is right - everybody knows that Pyramids give you a granary in each city.

Someone who made every decision based on his or her extensive Civ playing experience would probably be a better choice than any of these guys ...  :hmm:

Well, if you build the Pyramids ,it acts as a granary in all of your cities, so he's not exactly wrong. :nerd:
