Ministers are normally drawn from the governing party yes.  But there is no constitutional requirement that only government side MPs be appointed and there have been exceptions.  Having said that I think that it is very much a strength of our system that the cabinet is drawn from elected MPs.  Not sure why you think it is a weakness.  Lastly given the number of MPs who are newly and appointed as ministers your final sentence is, at best, dubious.
Parliamentary comittees are chosen from all parties, but the majority party control the committee.

How often did a law proposed by a majority government was rejected by the parliament in 1st or 2nd reading?  Not every often.

Bills are never "rejected" at first and second reading. They are always sent to committee unless there is unanimity that it can proceed to the next reading.  It is exceedingly rare that a bill will not be modified at the committee stage.
ok. let me rephrase then.

When was the last time a majority government, elected with less than 50% of the popular vote was unable to have a bill voted with the provisions it wanted to without making any kind of compromises with the opposition?
The kind of things you would see in a minority government, basically.
And MPs holding a vote without the party line, for all parties, is an extremely rare event.

I don't know the english term for that, but when a government wants a bill to pass and the opposition has announced it won't support it, it can suspend the procedures to quickly adopt the bill and make it official law.  Not even the Governor General could stop it.  It would require something extremely unconstitutional for the non elected GG to refuse royal stamp on it.

Well the latest most high profile example was Bill C-51.  Changes to Bills in committee are routine Viper.  I am really not sure what you are getting at. Anyway, we have strayed a long way from the point I was making regarding US politics.  If you really think Committees are powerless perhaps you can take it up in the Canadian Politics thread.

QuoteCarson felt God's influence again at Yale when he went to bed feeling unprepared for a chemistry test he had to pass in order to continue his pre-med studies. A shadowy figure came to him in his dreams, he said, with most of the questions that would appear on the exam the following morning. He scored a 97.

"For whatever reason, the God of the universe, the God who holds galaxies in His hands, had seen a reason to reach down to a campus room on Planet Earth and send a dream to a discouraged ghetto kid who wanted to become a doctor," Carson would later write in "Gifted Hands."

This guy makes Tim Tebow look reasonable.

Not only did God want him to pass a test, God actually *cheated* for him...

What the heck? I had a whole prayer group pray for me before my integrated circuits final and God didn't do that for me. Favoritism, that is what that is.

Unitarianism is not the correct choice of religion, Valmy.  What other answer could there be?  The evidence is staring you right in the face! :contract:

Reminds me of the time a witness refused to review any document prior to testifying in a document intensive case because she believed that after she took an oath to tell the truth God would assist in answering the questions.  God was with the other side that day.

I'm all for the power of prayer, but sometimes you have to try and help yourself first.

I was thinking of her when I read Berkut's post about the positive dangers of religious belief.

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
