Why is building a wall right wing? Is having no borders a left wing position?

In the US being anti-illegal immigrant is a right wing thing. That might not be true world-wide.

It certainly is in Spain too. Our right wing parties have always had markedly more restrictive immigration policies. Heck, it's happening right now with the Syrian refugees issue.

Being anti-trade seems to be shared by extremes of both sides of the political spectrum, which hardly makes it "centrist" - it's exactly the opposite.

Trump is a demagogue. A very good one, too

Apparently GOP challenger of Paul Ryan is running against Ryan by milking Ryan's refusal to back Trump. I wonder how many GOP establishment stooges are going to see a similar revolt?

Trump should endorse Paul Ryan's primary challenger as retribution and a continued warning to party "leaders" who dare oppose him.  The vote is August 9.

Trump just yanked his leash.

I wonder if Donald's multiple personalities communication style will prove to be an asset or a liability.

Ryan released a statement:

QuoteHaving both said we need to unify the party, Speaker Ryan has invited Donald Trump to meet with members of the House Republican leadership in Washington on Thursday morning to begin a discussion about the kind of Republican principles and ideas that can win the support of the American people this November. The Speaker and Mr. Trump will also meet separately, along with RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

The Seebrew posting his singularity shpiel again made me realize he has been very quiet about the election.

Meanwhile Trump has a plan for dealing with the national debt and kickstarting the economy:

QuoteSpeaking on CNBC, Trump said he embraces the idea of taking on debt, given that borrowers can try to tweak the terms later on. Indeed, as a businessman Trump has used the bankruptcy laws on several occasions to reduce his companies' debts.

"I am the king of debt. I do love debt. I love debt. I love playing with it." Trump said.

"Do you believe that we, in terms of the United States need to pay a hundred cents on the dollar, or do you think that there's actually ways that we can renegotiate that debt?" CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin asked him.

"Yeah, I think -- look, I have borrowed, knowing that you can pay back with discounts. And I have done very well," Trump said. "I would borrow, knowing that if the economy crashed, you could make a deal, and if the economy was good, it was good, so, therefore, you can't

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Come on guys. Those lenders that are not getting repaid: they are killers. The big banks, the foreign sovereign funds, the multinational corporations, grandma....they knew what they were doing when they lent to an organization that was so unsteady it would elect Trump president. Hell, grandma even voted for him, so she has no excuse.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

There's a fine line between salvation and drinking poison in the jungle.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

Normally I would be kind of stunned by something like this, but it is Trump so it really doesn't matter anymore.

Sure, go ahead and tell the world you are going to commit warcrimes, stomp on human rights, torture people, destroy the alliance system that has largely kept the world safe, encourage nuclear proliferation, encourage racists, and now, tell everyone the US is likely to use our power to refuse to pay back loans. The entire world works just like an Atlantic City casino business. Why the fuck not?
