I hear rumors that the Bengals are seriously interested in taking Tavon Austin from WVU in the first round if he's available by their pick.  He'd be one hell of an offensive & special teams weapon.  Plus my nephew is a big enough fan that he might finally get over the Carson Palmer thing and stop wearing his Palmer jersey to Bengals games.
Wow.  I would have thought that the whole quitting on the team would have cured your nephew of that.

He's 6 & doesn't quite understand what happened.  I get a kick out of it, as it irritates my brother to no end.

They still have a second-rounder for this year from that trade, don't they?  The first last year turned into a cornerback who gets hurt, but they also had one this year, didn't they?
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Yeah, and it's a pretty nice spot.  I think it's the 5th pick in the 2nd round.

And I totally called Dre Kilpatrick getting hurt.  It's just how things go when they draft early for a need.

Yeah, there's some real quality to be found that early in the second round.

Amendola in New England.

Great, just great.
I wouldn't worry about it.  By week 3 he'll be out for the year with an injury.  Sooner if they play whichever team picks up Pollard.
I'd hope Niners take a look but they seem to be eyeing Woodson.

:bleeding:  Such a horrible trade.  I don't understand how anyone could think it was a good idea.

Ricky Jean-Francois to Colts

Nnamdi Asomugha visiting Niners today.

Cary Williams to the Eagles.  The guy was much-maligned, but mostly by stupid people.

So Ed Reed left Houston without a deal.  That's not going to go over well in Texanland.

Niners are talking a Asomugha & Woodson, not an or.

What I've seen so far is saying he had some shit going on this weekend and is still talking with the Texans, doesn't have any plans for now to visit any other teams, and wants $6-7 million/year while the Texans are offering about 5ish.  I like Ed Reed and think he'd be a good guy to have in Houston while they get his replacement (draft pick) ready and all that, but that's a bit much.

Justin Forsett and Alan Ball left Houston for Jacksonville today.  Too bad about Forsett, not such a big deal with Alan Ball.

E: Greg Jennings to the Vikes.  5 years, $47.5m, $18m guaranteed.  http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000151204/article/greg-jennings-signs-contract-with-minnesota-vikings

They need the ballhawking.  They're so close to the edge of being a Super Bowl team, it's worth it.

Yeah, I figure it comes down to where Houston thinks they are.  If they think that they have a legitimate chance and the Superbowl this year, then Reed is probably worth the stretch.  If they're thinking a couple of years, then a guy who will probably only play one more year, or maybe two, might not be such a great deal.

Reed isn't the player he used to be, but he'd upgrade the Texans secondary.  I'd rather see Reed retire a Raven though.

He's about the same as Quin (who is now gone), stats wise, but is a shitload more experienced.  I think he would fit nicely back there with Manning behind Joseph and Jackson, and would give whatever new guy FS they bring in a chance to adjust, learn from the best, etc, so they don't have to throw him to the wolves immediately like they did with Jackson (who only really recovered from that, + shitty coaching before Wade, last year).
