He may not be what he used to be, but he still shuts down half the field, still has a sense for the ball and quarterback's tendencies, and can coach the lights out of the secondary.  As decent as Quin was, he's an upgrade in pass defense for a Super Bowl run.

Now that the Bears are moving on, Urlacher to Ravens perhaps?

No that would be terrible pickup for the Ravens unless Urlacher wants to play for the league minimum.  The only teams who will sign a guy like him will be teams who just need that one piece to make a run or teams run by Dan Snyder.

I still haven't seen officially what exactly they're going to be paying Reed, but the standard NFL blogger types seem to be leaning toward 3years, $16 million max, with $7 guaranteed.  That's pretty excellent if it's true.

No way, the Ravens are settled on a youth movement at LB.  I don't see Urlacher coming in.

They're focused solely on signing Dumervil right now, with Huff a potential 2nd signing.

NFL.com is reporting 3 years, 15mil max, and 5 guaranteed.  Thats fantastic.

Yeah, that's a decent deal;  I believe the Ravens didn't want to go beyond 2 years and $4M with change, if that.

Either way, I'm sure Ed's quite disappointed with his free agency experience.

CountDeMoney

You know what's truly scary?  The 49ers with 14 draft picks.   Already young as hell with a Super Bowl trip under their belt.  Yikes.

Neil

Yeah, I'm sure he thought somebody would give him the seven million he was getting last season.  Houston got a guy who will make a difference for a fair price and who can help reinforce a real winning culture, and Reed got about as much as a guy with maybe two seasons in the tank could ask for.

Shit I forgot compensatory picks were announced.  I wonder what Houston got.

E: oh nice. They got the 3rd I had seen message board types talking about being a possibility, along with a 7th.

Chris Gamble retired.

And Carolina signed Ted Ginn jr. Enjoy the drops panthers fans.

Yeah, the Ravens got picks in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds.  They're going to set records next year though, what with this year's bloodbath.

Ozzie's gonna need all 12 picks, too.   Wait till you see Suggs' and Ngata's salary cap damage next season.

The last CBA totally fucked the players and the cap.  The needle's not moving at all.
