Ingredients:

1- Brand spanking new Winchester M70 Classic Featherweight 30-06 (aquired on trade)
1- 22" barrel chambered for 8x57mm from McGowan Rifle Barrels
1- Gunsmith
1- Leupold VX1 2-7 scope. :

Meh.  If I did for a semi-auto, it would probably just be for a M1911.  Maybe a CZ if it were 9mm.

But I'd probably just buy another .347.  Or maybe move up a frame size.  Get something with a compensator and a bigger caliber.  Like a S&W500.  Stop Freightliners with that fucker.

Would rather just wait for Ed's father to die and skeeve that Colt Python, though.

Inspired by 11B, I decided to do a little work this weekend that I had been putting off for a while.  Took the 20" barrel AR I have and swapped out the flat-top A3 upper receiver out for an FN-made A2 receiver.

Had to remove the gas tube and barrel and re-attach both to the new receiver, but it was surprisingly easy to do.  Used the armorer's tool, a 5/32 punch, an action block and vise.  Took less than an hour and that was with me taking it slow.  When I re-attached the barrel I torqued the barrel nut to 80 ft/lbs per the TM. 

Finally have a "real" A2 clone, permanent carry handle & all.

YOu know, when you see gun people going on about their guns (and I don't mean that in a dismissive manner - lord knows I can go on about the things I find interesting), it makes the entire gun control debate centered around the "individual right" and the 2nd Amerndment  seem so silly.

Very few of the people who care about owning guns care because they want to make sure they can overthrow the government if necessary, or even so they can defend themselves, or any other purely theoretical, practical reason to own a gun.

They want to have guns because they are a pretty damn cool toy.
