We're still in a mild drought (what NOAA terms "abnormally dry"), but we're finally getting some rain so that may change in the next couple weeks.  Not that I mind the drought, since I'm paranoid about flooding...

I actually live 'in' a river, though none of my neighbours seem to know this; it's on the site of an old mill on an island formed by the mill channel.
Thirty feet in front of our houses is a very large permanent pumping station that lifts groundwater out into the river channel, without which we'd be flooded every 4-5 years (that is at the current rate). Personally I'm not that bothered.

Wait until the greens find out you're desecrating a river. Your only chance is the get some bats to roost in the neighborhood

There are stacks of bats here already, love them flying over the garden and meadows in the evenings.

Southwest Texas is in a really bad drought right now, so wouldn't be surprised.

Texas is headed for disaster due to water issues. It isn't that nobody is taking it seriously, but it sure seems like it isn't being taken seriously enough.

When the inevitable happens what is the plan? Don't know.
