To predict the future. Even if only one day ahead.

Would be incredibly depressing.  "Oh, look, I'm going to be in a horrible car crash tomorrow, whee!"

Does that happen to you on a daily basis?

I would wish for the entire world to return to the barter system. :)
Dear god why?

Because then only the people who can actually do or make something will be valuable and everyone else will be dead and gone. :)

I never took you to be a Marxist Meri.

After reading this, it would be that no one on languish gets any wishes.  :P

Except for Brazen.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

There's a fine line between salvation and drinking poison in the jungle.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

as far as i know a true barter system never existed. Gift economies (or whatever it's called) was the norm. Term indian giver comes from that. Barter is just too difficult. You make coats and want to get leather? farmer doesn't need any coats, how do you get your leather? you need to find someone who wants coats and has something the farmer wants. and that's the easy way. you might have to go down a complicated chain just to get someting the farmer wants. That means you won't have time to make coats . Money is simplier.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

If Meri wants, we could form a Spartan system for her. No money there. Then again, women were mainly for blasting out crotchfruit out of their babycannons for the state. She would LOVE that.

Cloak of invisibility.

It could be taken from you.

I will go for Shapeable Force Fields.
I could surround myself in a impenetrable/nuke proof force shield, or use it offensibly as a battering ram.
I could also push it down to lift myself in the air and hover like a helicopter.
Or I could shape the force field thin to cut like a blade.
Or I could slide it under objects to lift them into the air.

If I keep thinking, I'm pretty sure I can come up with a gazillion things I can do with a Shapeable Force Field (tm) besides shielding.

Laws of physics still apply.

Sure, you can use it as a battering ram, but you can just use an ordinary battering ram as a battering ram, and it would probably work much better since it would be swung rather than pushed.

And you know what slices like a blade? An actual blade. Cool, huh?

Lifting objects can be done with such wonderous marvels as hands and cranes.

Wicked cool.

Do you see how I used saved you from squandering your wish?

Get back to spending it on the deaths of all Muslimo-Arabs.

But without religious belief, what's to keep you from being brutally murdered?
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Yeah, I think you would be surprised, and not at all amused, by the result of this.

I was being silly, but decided to play along when everyone else got their panties in a knot over it.

It would be impossible to come up with a single wish - or so I thought until I read Brazen's - so I figured make it something completely silly. I never imagined anyone would take me seriously.
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...
