If you've got low quality wine, simply don't drink it.

I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

If Microsoft Excel decided to stop working overnight, the world would practically end.

My inner cheap Ukrainian rebels at your suggestion.  But I've paid for it - I must find a way to drink it!

M&Ms in your white wine and whipped cream in your cognac.

Aren't those Alannis Morrisette lyrics?

The only thing this thread is missing: mouth sugar.

Ice cubes are a way for restaurants to cheaply fill your glass.
That's actually no joke.  Any place with a fountain set-up, the soda water comes out chilled because of--I suppose--the heat transfer action of the CO2.  In any event, it's quite cold.

Tea is usually kept room temperature, however.  But room temperature tea actually tastes pretty decent.

Why does this thread exist? :yuk:

It's pretty cool: Martinus just totally blew the last thing he had going for him, being an upper-class twit.

Uhm, restaurants usually open a can or a bottle of a soft drink when they serve it to you, so I can't see how this would work.

If I get a drink at McDonalds or the like I make a point of saying no ice.

I keep forgetting you people refer to McDonalds as a "restaurant".

White wine mixed with sparkling water is a common drink in Germany.

:yuk:

Unfortunately, yes. Don't get me started on the sekt and the "sweet" wines popular there.
As to Spanish horrors such as Tinto de Verano or kalimotxo  :yuk: as well.

Incidentally, a spritzer made of white wine, ice cubes, sparkling water and a slice of green lemon is pretty nice for summer heat.

Btw, Romans drank their red wine mixed with water.

The self service jug on the wiki page is hilarious. gross.

It brings me back to my teenage and college years.  Luckily nowadays I can afford better booze.  :P

And as others said, you only want to add ice cubes to your wine if it's of terrible quality and you are lounging on the beach next to a Ryanair planeload of Yorkshire teenagers in Mallorca. To do that with good stuff is a crime against humanity.

Edit: This is the kind of wine you put ice and/or coke to:

Unmixed water was way more dangerous back then and pure wine was for Gods only.
