Acceptable or a crime?

You should be shot on sight for doing such a thing.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

I thought gay people were supposed to be cultured.

Are you making a sangria?  If so, that's ok.  Otherwise, die PLZ.

I've never really got ice cubes in anything. I certainly wouldn't put them in wine.

We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

Most of the time they're used for poor people drinks like soda or shitty beer.  The colder the drink is, the harder it is to taste any shitty aftertastes, which poor people drinks often feature.

Ice cubes or crushed ice are a necessary ingredient for some cocktails, e.g. Mojito and Caipirinha.

Yes there is a place for ice in some drinks.  Watering down a glass of red wine is not one of them.  Unless I suppose the wine in question is complete crap and you need to mask the taste in some way as Cal has suggested.
