So they dump 500 dollars a month just on drinking?
Some do, I imagine, but it's a minority for sure.

But then there are people who work for their booze money of a weekend.  After food and accomodation I imagine booze is their biggest spend.

Yeah some people spend crazy amounts on drinking.
Friends of mine who went sstraight into work post school just drink like crazy. £50+ a night easily. Somehow.

This reminds me of a drinking contest I somehow got into with a guy in Montreal many many years ago.

2 double shots every 5 minutes until somebody drops.  I can clearly recall downing number 24 as I saw his head drop on the table.  That is the last thing I remembered for quite some time.

Today there is no chance I would even come close.

No chance I would even try.

Acquired tolerance to alcohol.  Up until the point that the liver just gives up, which takes a while, you can improve your tolerance dramatically just by practice.

Yep.  Back when I was in college, I drank a lot.  A couple of the local bars had quarter beer night on Wednesdays, and on a couple of occasions, I spent $20+ on quarter beers, after already having a buzz before I went to the bars.  I didn't actually drink 80 beers there, though, because I'd buy a few beers for some of my friends too, and I almost certainly topped 50-60 beers at least a few times.  I had built up enough tolerance that a 6-pack wouldn't even get me buzzed.

Anyway, people who drink that much need to be doing it at home, not a bar.  You'll save lots of money and no chance of a DUI (not that I imagine most people in say London drive often, if at all...)

Agreed!

I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

You can get drunk, not just buzzed and not feel shitty the next day. :contract:

last summer I drank 23 beers over 20 hours. we had lots of food and party flavours. when I woke up, I was ravenous, and rode my bike to get 2 uncle burgers.

no hangover, but I was still buzzed when I woke up. really, it's all about pacing.

Or just not drink too much.

I find this almost always works.  3 pints of water and you're fine :)

+something starchy (like fries/bread) to help with any residual stomach ache.

Some people talk wonders of taking an aspirin just before hitting the sack too. But water works great. I saw that on Brainiac.  :P
