I'll be taking in one cat to  get looked at tomorrow.  She seems to have a row of cysts  on her belly.  What to get it checked out.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

That being said the cat is probably already plotting how to murder the baby and dispose of the body.

Nah, cats and dogs are hugely surprising in their tolerance of little babies and kids.  It's as if they know they are tiny kittens or puppies, and treat them accordingly...

That's gotta be a set-up. But it is funny.

Yeah, no properly operated supermarket would position your all needs in one aisle - the art is to make you walk past numerous aisles so you can impulse-buy more. :P

Took my cat to the vet.  She has breast cancer.  He'll do the operation tomorrow.

Oh dear. How serious is this?  :(

Razgovory

Fairly serious.  No idea if the surgery will fix her or not.  She wasn't sick before.  I just noticed a bunch of lumps on the cat and took her in.

Heh, I can vouch for that - out cat takes no shit from anyone adult, and is quick to punish human impertinence (as you may remember  :P ), but would put up with endless maulings from baby Carl without the slightest threat to his safety - we once caught Carl teething on her tail. She was wearing a pained expression, but just put up with it.  Later he would pick her up and carry her about like a rag doll - if anyone else tried it, they would be looking at spending quality time in surgery.

Our previous cat now - she hated everyone except me. I would have been nervous with trusting her near a baby.

Sorry to hear it - best wishes for her recovery.

Cat surgery went well.  They did a radical mastectomy, which I guess means we'll have to get the cat implants.  The cancer had not attached itself to any organs so cutting it out was easy.  I don't think it spread, beyond the mammary, so it was either benign or we got it in time.  She's weak, but alive.  She's an older cat, 13 years old now, but hopefully this will give her a couple more years.

Nice to hear it went well.  Hope the recovery goes just as well.

It took me a while, but I am getting another cat.  A nice calico shelter cat, young (8 or so months) who is loving and inquisitive.  I want to name her Theodora as a cat should be a god or an emperor.
I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

So the other day I am sitting at my desk (pictured in the background) when I hear a meow - I look behind and my cat is sitting on the tv cabinet. I have no idea how he got there.

I went back to my computer and then I hear another meow - followed by the motherfucker jumping on my back (he weighs 6 kilos) and then on the floor.

Brazen

Harley has had a watery eye since I adopted her. I keep it meticulously clean for a couple of days and either it gets better or I have to get eye drops. It got so bad last month that the eye closed up and one side of her face swelled up. Turns out she had an ulcerated eye that looked like it had been caused by a scrape, such as mad dashing into furniture, rather than her scratching it. She's got more drops and anti-inflammatories but the vet's now prescribed her some steroid eye drops which can either cure or make it worse, so I'm under strict instructions to bring her back after a couple of days. If that doesn't work she'll be referred to a specialist or she might lose her eye  :( It's probably not going to be covered under insurance as she's had conjunctivitis since I adopted her.
