I think his evening (afternoon for some of you) speech won't have anything to do with an election. It's undoubtedly going to have to do with new COVID measures. I think this is the first time he's asked for quasi-prime time airtime. Obviously something big is coming down.

Surprisingly the Gov. Gen actually showed up to deliver the throne speech. Thought she might use a sick day or something :P

I wonder if she'll make anyone cry live on the air?

She's been talking for over an hour. That's more work than she's ever done

So wage subsidy to continue until next summer.  Investments in green retrofitting buildings, and yet again a promise of "investing" in national childcare program.

You're focusing too much on what type of discrimination it is and ignoring the fact that it is still discrimination.
Just about every laws&rules are discrimination against one group or another and an infringement on personal freedom.

And while it might, in your case, be well meaning, it still has other undesirable consequences. In my opinion the cons outweigh the pros.
Looking at US politics, I don't think keeping religion and religious fanatics out of our government is a bad thing to do.  Then again, I'm not one to worship anything.  Were I a strong believer in one religion or another, I might believe it is totally allright to discriminate against non believers as long as any believer's right to discrimination is respected.

I don't believe. I haven't since I was 11 or 12. But having a belief isn't the same as enforcing a belief. A judge wearing a turban or a Yamaha* doesn't oppress you or force you to worship. Now if they start expressing judgements counter to the law based on religious beliefs fire their ass. But that hold true if they were being racists or sexist or any other occurrence where prejudice affects their judgement.

That would be Reform. They don't actually wear them on their heads, just play them. The others think they have gone too liberal.

Disappointed with JT's address to the nation.

I wasn't expecting another lockdown or anything, but it basically was a "please wear masks, wash your hands, we can do it," speech.

A "we'll be home by Christmas" speech.

A bit anti-climactic.

Not sure why they're giving O'toole air time now. He's giving a partisan speech. This isn't a debate. Are they going to allow Trudeau to comment back?
