Is this affecting you guys, BB, Neil?
Not in the slightest.

Still, I'm going to fly to Vancouver for 36 hours this weekend and hope that the terribleness doesn't rub off on me.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Heh... I'm out of town from tonight until late Sunday evening... otherwise I'd suggest we'd grab a beer.

If I see a John Lennon-looking guy in the airport tonight, I'll wave.

We're going to... Saskatoon. Of all places.

I'm in SW Calgary.  It's pretty bad in the downtown but where I am is just fine, though the rain continues.  Lot's of bridges closed.  I walked to the Glenmore reservoir and it's extremely high, looks like the dam will be breached.  I have several friends and colleagues in Canmore, Alberta that have been flooded out, evacuated and displaced.  The Trans-Canada there has been washed out by Cougar Creek, normally a dry bed that i've hiked up many times.

The Calgary Saddledome apparently has water in it up to the 14th row.

I believe all of Viper37's shots are from the aptly named High River, about 30 minutes south of the Calgary city limits.

Well, you'll be the youngest people in the whole city.  Also, while you're there, try and praise the Oldsmobile Alero.  They love that thing there.

Well, there's not much more anyone can do, I guess.  Hopefully, the rain will stop.

I had an Alero.  :)

The year of the 3 mayors, just like Rome with its 4 emperors :)

Montreal is at its 3rd mayor in a year.
Summary for those not following:
Montreal is a corrupt city, has been for a while, noboby really paid attention, but now that there's an inquiry board, the elected mayor kinda looked like a fool, see nothing, hear nothing.
Come his replacement.  Later arrested on corruption charges, received money while he was a "city neighbourhood mayor" (don't ask, MTL's politices give me headaches) to facilitate a building project (business as usual in MTL).
So, they just got their new mayor last week.  Hopefully, this one will last 4 months 'til the next election.

Here's the funny part:  Laval (right next to MTL, the island to the north) will also have it's 3rd mayor in a year.
So first, the old mayor is forced to quit, later arrested and indicted on criminal chargers for gangsterism and fraud.
Then his replacement is mentionned at the inquiry board as being accessory to illegal financing.
The city is place on direct supervision from the government.

And now this mayor is forced to quit politics...  He allegedly asked for sexual services from an escort, refused to pay, than got sort of blackmailed by the agency.  He pulls a Bill Clinton and says he never received any sexual services.  Escort boss says he tried ladies dresses all night with the girl...
English summary

More details in French

There's something I'll never understand about these people.  Why the fuck to they do stupid shit like that when they know they are under the spotlight?  Why call an escort to your place at the moment when your face &a name are all over the news?  Is it a pre-equisite to be dumb in politics?

The previous mayor was under the spotlight for at least 2 years.  Various provincial politicians saying he brought them cash enveloppe.  People start talking, there's a permanent police task force on corruption.  There's an inquiry board that starts questioning your friends.  If I were in this position, knowing my illegal activities, I'd hide my cash, not keep 100k$ in a safe box at the locak bank in my name for fuck sake.  I'd erase all traces of my foreign bank accounts from my books & computers, memorize the numbers & passwords if needed.  I'd do a cleanup of my workplace.

But what does he do?  Keep everything in place, and send some money to his cousin to hide, something for wich she panicks and calls the cops (after realizing that the new bills don't flush well in the toilet).

I'm a little disapointed at our criminal masterminds.  But I'm much more disapointed that no one ever bothered these morons before.  Couldn't have been that hard to catch.

He no longer has any reach.  His friends are either in the same spot has he is, have betrayed him or don't know him anymore.
Besides, I don't do contract in Montreal anymore ;)

If you guys keep posting every time a Mayor in Quebec is found to be corrupt this is going to get pretty monotonous.  Why dont you wait until you can post about one that isnt.
