I will say, though, that my son has really enjoyed Asterix & Obelix, and I'm getting him into Spirou a bit as well.

For Comics my daughter really liked Asterix, Tintin, Bone and Usagi Yojimbo.  I was surprised that she took the last two considering she hates any tv or audio that is remotely scary.
