WINNER! Best actor: Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant
WINNER! Best film: Spotlight
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Matthew Fox, shockingly, did an amazing job.  I didn't really consider him much of an actor, but he pulls off the racist, dandy gunslinger quite well.  Richard Jenkins as the devoted, bumbling assistant deputy was awesome as well.  It is certainly the best Western in terms of dialogue and characterization that I have seen in quite some time.  Small touches like one of the characters gesturing to his gun as his "ticket" to pass through forbidden territory, for instance show a really interesting level of knowledge of writing a screenplay instead of just a story.  Even the horses are given little hints of personality.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Saw most of World War Z on FX, so I don't have to wonder any more.

They have separate categories for sound editing and for sound mixing?
it is two different things.

They are, but it's still pretty granular. Like splitting photography in "best lightning" and "best color correction".

Also, I'm pleased that Mad Max has - at least - swept the technical Oscars. Given how the race was shaping up in the past weeks, it was clear that it had little chance of getting the big ones, but the film still emerges as the one with most awards this season.

The best editing one, in particular, is very deserved. That film is fantastically edited.

Watched Bone Tomahawk last night on Amazon Prime.  Now there's a genre I wasn't aware existed--a Horror Western.  Great film.

8 bone neck-whistles out of 10.
There's a Tremor movie set in the old West as well as a vampire flick From Dusk 'til Dawn. ;)
