PS, is there a reason you have to say I'm not a professional film critic?  Is that, like, news to anybody?

50 other people on this board and they all have their own opinions and bullshit hobbies, and I am constantly torn down by a few of you because I indulge in mine.  Disagree, fine, even ill-manners is fine, but this contempt is getting old.  It's shitty and the lot of you need to knock it off, unless you're the genuinely nasty people I think some of you are who do it just to insult me because you 1)hate me because I have differing politics and 2)believe you can hurt my feelings and think that would be fun.

Hey Nancy, relax, quit being over sensitive. I agree more than disagree and like your reviews. You at Languish not Pdox, you need to have your big boy pants on. Or any pants for that matter.  :P

During the summer, I often post just wearing my underwear.  :)

And another thing!  Stop thinking about me in states of undress!

P.S. Telefon is a good movie. :)

Deeps: I'm surprised you put TUC under TMP.  Not too many folks do.  Actually, they're close enough on mine that I had to go back and look at what I said--they maybe ought to be tied, and it's really more a matter of mood which one's better (do I want a preposterous action-thriller or a Trekky 2001?).  TUC's bizarro premise is what brings it down.  ("Down" is relative here.  That said, Star Trek movies, along with the Star Wars OT and Indy, are such integral parts of my childhood that I can't think about them objectively in the context of other movies.)

That's better than Raz who wears them on his head.

Haven't seen the second one, but the first is great :contract:

It's a good-looking, exciting movie that may have one of the single worst plots in recent movie history.

This is still leagues better than STID, which is a good-looking, initially-exciting movie that eventually does not have a plot, so it cuts off TWOK's face and wears it like it thinks you can't tell.

Those two reboots are why IMO JJ Abrams will shit his pants on Star Wars.

reboots= Lack of imagination/lazy/money making scheme.

The plots to both films suck assballs.  I can't believe that with everything available in the Star Trek universe, the only thing they can manage to find is old plot lines.

Ideologue

Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzmann, and Damon Lindelof aren't writing the Star Wars pictures.  That gives 'em a shot.

I actually like Abrams as a visual stylist.  MOAR LENS FLARE.

Super 8's wonderful.

More or less

I don't care about plot holes. I genuinely can't think of one I've ever noticed without the aid of the internet.

But I also don't think plot matters in that film because it ain't the point - it's the characters and the whole rebootness.

But, say, in a Hitchcock film the only point is plot, you could replace most of his characters with any other character from any other of his films - it doesn't matter because the fun is in the plot.

Rope is immaculate.  You can't replace Jimmy Stewart with Cary Grant.  For one thing, they mention Cary Grant in dialogue. :hmm:

They have tried. It ended with DS9/Voyager. Big mistake other than WoK to put any Star Trek on the big screen. WoK worked because of the lore of the Space Seed episode. All other is shit, proof is in the pudding. Star Trek universe has always been episodic.

But could they replace Rupert Cadell with Scottie Ferguson or LB Jefferies?
