Well, I would dispute calling them Major Religions especially using Capital Letters, but even if we accept that they are, minor superficial resemblances to their theology doesn't make the movie a religious work.

It's a creation story, that is just as religious as virtually any other creation story.

Put it this way- aliens creating humans isn't any less compatible with a rational atheistic worldview than humans creating artificial intelligence.

And if you look at such stories as literalist speculation, sure, that works, but I think we all know they're not. :huh:

Anyway, Guardians of the Galaxy was really good.  Full review whenever.

Knight and Day was pretty bad, and Jack Reacher was thoroughly meh. I haven't seen Rock of Ages, but it got a 5.9 on IMDB. That's 3 of the 4 prior to Oblivion, probably enough to call it a bad patch. (MI4 was ok).

Collateral's great, Ghost Protocol's great, Oblivion was almost great... Tropic Thunder he was the best part of.

Also I want to go all the way back and put Magnolia, Eyes Wide Shut, Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Rain Man, etc., into contention.

Also Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).  An eminently worthy sequel, but if that sounds less than entirely enthusiastic, it's because unlike its so-close-to-perfect predecessor, Dawn does have its problems--from its recombined DNA up.
