Anyone seen the Spike Lee Old Boy?
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I was supposed to go tonight and see it together with Frozen, but I was only able to get to the first movie.  I'm seeing it sometime this week.

Ohhh, that's what Greece was talking about.  I thought she was referring to some kind of Fight Club shenanigans.

Too bad it didn't show before mine.  I'd have appreciated seeing the trailer.  I'm interested in the film. :)

That story was missing a key element.

Key Largo was on last night. Probably the movie with the lowest ever production cost.

There are only two locations, a hotel lobby and a pier outside. I bet the salaries for the actors were 95% of the budget. Bogey, Lauren Bacall, Edward G Robinson and Lionel Barrymore. I think Bogart and Bacall were married by then irl.

Actually, why can't we have a straight person porno-drama that isn't rather sex negative?  Lesbians got one.  But all we ever get is Lars von Trier movies and Eyes Wide Shut and the Brown fucking Bunny (another contender for Worst Film Ever, though I still say Hunger Games is worse).

Edit: I guess I'm assuming the worst; Nymphomaniac may be about how fucking compulsively is really great.  Anything is possible.

Hunger games is not bad. Now the Twilight series, that is an abomination.

I just mean the first one.  The second one (I'm working on the review, I've been really busy and it's difficult to do a review for the first one) is much better; still not good, but shockingly good in comparison.  I was thinking of including something along the lines that if they continue improving the franchise at this rate, Mockingjay Part II will be the best film ever made.

Not all lesbian movies are made for lesbians.

Most are. Pay attention to the male characters. They're all going to be either malevolent, contemptuous or inconsequential.

Sure, some are made to make you feel terrible and ashamed that you didn't have a lot of great sex and figure your life out when you were in your late teens and early twenties.  I haven't seen Blue Is the Warmest Color yet; I will, because it's an important 2013 film, but three hours of lesbians telling me I suck still sounds like a really wretched time.  I get enough of that noise from my sister. <_<

Yi: The Lover sounds kind of pleasant.  It ends with people not getting what they want. :)
