Drive to Survive is pretty cool. They did a good job of explaining the drama of F1 and the struggle of the smaller teams. Makes Will Buxton look really good too.

But, they also create entire dramatic story line that did not exist in real life, edit the footage to fit the created narative line, and create fake racing commentary & phone calls.

I mean, I like the Rocky movies, but I still have no interest in watching boxing matches. :)

I'm trying to think ... I feel there was a documentary that really got me interested in a subject I previously had zero interest in, but I forget what it was ...  :hmm:

So I've fallen into a deep rabbit hole on Youtube - watching sailing videos.  There's a bunch of different channels, all following the same basic model.  Either a single guy, or a couple or a family, live on a sailboat.  They send up regular updates on their lives and travels.  Many of the videos are surprisingly well put together - basically their full-time job is making youtube videos, which can be enough for a fairly decent income.

Anyways, it has gotten me interested to the point where I've been googling sailing lessons, although I don't think I'll take that particular plunge.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

Just took a quick look at the F1 results for the last few years, as I haven't really followed it, and ugh, it seems boring as hell on a first glance, a total Hamilton - Mercedes reign of terror with little or no competition from other teams or drivers. For the ones who have followed it, what is it that plain results don't tell about the current situation? Am I missing something? Which are the expectations for this season, for Hamilton to become World Champion for the 8th time surpassing Schumacher?

crazy canuck

Mrs. CC loves the Netflix Formula 1 show

Admiral Yi

One thing truly impressive about F1 is how that announcer can keep shrieking the whole damn race.

Yes, altho it seems Red Bull got much closer to Mercedes this year. And the new regulations hurting the Mercedes more. But Hamilton is still the favorite.

The hybrid era of F1, since 2013, is really boring at the top. You find excitement in the mid field. Which of McLaren, Renault (now Alpine), Ferrari or Force India(Racing Point now Aston Martin) will finish 3rd?

That's the great highlight of DtS, making you care about the midfield.

Well, if the excitement is seeing who'll finish 3rd (behind Mercedes and Red Bull, I assume), then it's not really very exciting, isn't it?

Madame Claude. In 1960s Paris pimping is reasonably difficult. Lots of hot chicks and lots of boobs. The main chick got a Monica Bellucci thing going.

Everyone here is waiting for Verstappen to get a shot at the title, obviously. But he will probably choke, national traditional demands it.

I am now a Formula 1 fan because of the Netflix series. Going to some friends house on the 18th to watch the race in Italy.

Auto racing has always been something that is quite interesting to read or learn about - but that watching an actual race is like watching paint dry.  In my opinion of course.

F1 used to be awesome. Last wortwhile time was maybe the Raikonnen-Schumacher rivalry.

They both put up a good fight against Schumacher.

Our national hero, Jacques Villeneuve even beat him! 1997 was such an awesome F1 year for Quebec.

I usually try to watch Montreal GP, or at least part of it, but I could never get behind NASCAR.  F1 can be fun when there's real competition between the teams.  For a while, it was a given that Ferrari would win every race and my interest began to fade.
