Metzo metzo.  The Jew Bear talking in a sqeaky voice killed my buzz.  Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbinder had good scenes.  Hitler was badly cast.

Tried to give Django Unchained another try.  No good.  Gave up.

It was fun to notice that the bright blue valet outfit Jamie chooses looks a lot like the converted Indians in Civ: Colonization. :)

That Django outfit is based in an XVIIIth century painting called "The blue boy" by Thomas Gainsborough.

QuoteIn DA 5 BLOODS, four veterans return to Vietnam to search for the remains of their fallen squad leader and the promise of gold.

Looks interesting. :)
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Finished The Hollow Crown. I liked it. Anton Lesser is such an awesome "looker" I think, meaning I love the way he looks at people when he doesn't have a line.

It's Yi, he never watches "standard" length movies in full, let alone long ones, talky, self-indulgent or not.

That's not true.  I just give up when it's crap.  Good ones I watch all the way.

I'm with you.  Tarantino hasn't made a good movie (at lest, one that I've seen) in a while.  He does get great acting from his actors, but the plots and pace are meh.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

Homecoming. Julia Roberts thriller show about a sketchy transition program for veterans coming back from Irak.

The show is decent, nothing more, but she's actually quite good in it. There's also some fun stuff - like how they use old movies' soundtracks as the show's soundtrack, or different aspect ratios to highlight the two timelines. Also, Bobby Canavale plays the best scumbags on TV.

Jackie Brown and Hateful Eight were poor. All other (true, go away grind house) Tarantino movies were great.

Jackie Brown was great.

Jackie Brown is one of my favorites. The only time he's adapted somebody else's material and it shows.

But meh, nothing wrong in disliking Tarantino movies. He has a penchant for self-indulgence that can be grating at times if you're not onboard.

Tamas

As far as I can remember, I liked all of his movies. Yes, most of them are loosely connected cool scenes with not much of an overall story worth talking about, but that's fine with me.
