Well baby steps till you learn not to make such stupid posts.

The Great Wall.  Much better than I was expecting.

I'll agree to that.  It got so widely shamed/shat upon, when I finally watched it on HBOGo, I had almost no expectations.  It wan't great, but it was serviceable popcorn flick style watching.

I actually watched Scarface for the first time.
I can see how it is so influential. However I guess 2 decades of watching films taking from it has lessened the film itself.
I like how they underline that the main guy is an absolute arse hole right before they finally get rid of him.
The false ending part way through is interesting.
Pretty hard to understand what a lot of people are saying though

Watch the original.  It is interesting how they adapted and updated it.  At least to me it is.

Yup.  I was expecting cringe-inducing shit like The Room or Battlefield Earth, but it's probably better than a lot of schlocky swords and sorcery straight to cable shit that Hollywood puts out. The CGI was reasonable, Some of the battle effects, like the giant scissors and the high diving bungie virgins, were a mixture of WTF??? and that's kind of cool. The second act kind of drags, because it's hard to care about the gunpowder plot and because Miss Blue doesn't show us her goodies.

I also thought it was interesting as an exercise in state propaganda: thinking about how China wants to see itself and ways it wants the world to think about China.

Squeeze: I doubt any American had any trouble understanding the dialogue in Scarface.

Thought the same, and the visuals were pretty great nonetheless.

Wonder when we'll get the first Chinese flick that really makes it big in the west.

Halfway through S.2 of Stranger Things. Meh. Not sure what fuss is about. I remembered I didn't think much of season one either.

I was recently told not to watch Season 2 as it tarnished Season 1. But then I also have been told by others about how amazing Season 2 is.

Season 2 is definitely "more of the same". If you enjoyed season 1, you should enjoy season 2 (and if you didn't care for it, season 2 won't change your opinion). The biggest issue I had is that season 1 tied up all character arcs so nicely that the new conflicts they come up in season 2 just aren't as strong, but the leads are still extremely engaging.

I've seen strong criticism about the stuff they do with 11, but I wasn't bothered by it.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon doesn't cut it?

It was very successful, but still made way less than your average dumb popcorn movie.

Eddie Teach

I doubt that, considering how many dumb popcorn movies flop or go straight to video.
