I still like Lucifer, second half of season 5 now.  God as an older black gentlemen who likes to have some fun too totally made it for me. :)

I don't usually like musicals, but this particular episode was extremely funny. :)

I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

I don't generally trust review, or even really are much about them. But this is pretty brutal.

So, Bruce Almighty?
Yeah, I have to say since Morgan Freeman a smart black guy has sort of become the default for what god is these days.

That's a  good show. I really liked it but haven't seen it since it went to a streaming service.  :)

Most of the Dune fans seem to really love it.

That review kind of makes it sound big and bold and ambitious and that this reviewer is just too big of a jaded asshole to appreciate it. But hey I will see it in October, as I hope everybody else will, and we will see.

Most of the reviews I have seen have noted how little the movie pays attention to the characters as such, rather than how the characters interact with the story.  IndieWire Dude might simply have placed a lot more emphasis on that when he reviews a film.  I know that there are people who actually thought Avatar was a good movie, for instance, and I found it dull and predictable (if pretty).  We just value different things.

This gets raised a lot - but it is astonishing, given how popular that film was, how little lasting cultural impact it's had.

It's a film I watched and genuinely remember nothing about it.

It's cultural impact was almost entirely technological - it started off a few years resurgence of 3-D movies.

The story itself was Dances with Wolves in space.

And this is your friendly reminder that FOUR Avatar sequels are in production, with the next one (Avatar: The Way of Water) due out in December 2022.

It struck me as weird at the time that they made a big budget movie like Avatar without any consideration for merchandise or games. "Hey, who wants to play a disabled guy or a 9 ft smurf? The fun never ends!"
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

I never played it but I do remember there was an avatar game which was intended to do for 3d games and tvs what the film did for cinema.
We know how well those things went...

I liked avatar. It was a good film for what it was. Family friendly fluffy science fantasy. And the effects really did knock my socks off.
It's possible for the same person to like both Predator and Schindlers List.

Agreed its strange how it has been forgotten. I guess 3D became just so bleh with time that even the good examples of it were shrugged off.

I hope I get a chance to sneak away and see dune at the cinema. Everything I've read suggests it'll be good. And it's been eons since I went to the pictures.

Dances with wolves.  But in space.  With blue aliens. And no bad ending, at least not until movie #2.

Yeah I have a sense of what the film is. But there's like zero memory of any single moment that I watched, if you know what I mean? I don't remember anything that actually happened in the film at all.
