And this is your friendly reminder that FOUR Avatar sequels are in production, with the next one (Avatar: The Way of Water) due out in December 2022.

Yeah, I wonder what kind of cultural impact would, i.e. Star Wars, have had if there was just A New Hope.

I found Avatar pretty but trite, as you point out.

I will see it in October, as I hope everybody else will, and we will see.

I hope not, it opens next week in Europe  :P

I just saw a guest on BBC Breakfast say that It's A Sin is one of the best TV dramas made in the last 10 years.
"I've never been quite sure what the point of a eunuch is, if truth be told. It seems to me they're only men with the useful bits cut off."
I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

They probably mean: one of the best TV dramas made in the last 10 years which they have actually watched?

(Haven't watched it, so no idea if it's good or not, or how it compares.)

I've started watching Ghosts.
From the makers/cast of Horrible Histories.
Its....good. Which for a British sitcom of current days, especially one for mass consumption, is rare.

He was supposedly a tv or film critic.

And it is bad, well maybe somewhat okay for some educational value about the AIDS crisis but beyond that acting was pretty terrible.

I thought it was really good - including the acting :P

But I think that might have been Scott Bryan (former TV critic of Buzzfeed before they disappeared) who is very enthusiastic about things.

Having said that - thinking about it, I'm not sure the 2010s were particularly good for TV dramas. I can think of a comedies I really liked (Fleabag, Parks and Rec, Big Mouth, Good Place), but not many dramas spring to mind. The 2000s had (most of) the Sopranos, Deadwood, The Wire, Mad Men - for the 2010 lots of people the only show that springs to mind is Chernobyl :hmm:

Olly Alexander was dreadful. I gave up watching it after the
death of the Welsh kid
as felt I'd given it a good try and was a waste of time.

And I think you are right as his face was familiar but I couldn't place it.

And I think the critic was trying to say something positive rather than it was the best of an anemic offering. :P

 Fair. What a way to dampen his enthusiasm: "It's the best show in a decade..." "...of dross."

I liked Olly Alexander a lot in it

Low-key opening then because I heard nothing about it.

I bet he was young exactly at the time period depicted and he enjoyed the references. That's what usually behind such things.

The cultural impact of A New Hope alone was huge.
