I have that racism thing going with Canadians and continental Europeans too, but nobody gives me shit about that.  Funny how that is.

That's because it's pretty obviously sour grapes, same as mine.  Especially the Canadians.

Stupid Canadians with their happiness and good economy and socialism and cultural flowering.  They just don't get it. <_<

10 month ski season.  Fuckers.

Ide is reviewing all sorts of movies, but ignoring John Wick.  Very sad.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

It is, actually.  I really wanted to see it, and I was waiting to watch it with my buddy I watch action movies with.  Unfortunately, I didn't tell him this, and he went to go see it with his brother.  Then a mess of movies came out and I was distracted by those.  Considering one of those movies was Fury, it seems all but certain I made the wrong choice. <_<

I would consider my 2014 list incomplete if I didn't see it though.  Something that cannot be said about The Hunger Games Part Trois or The Hobbit Takes a Nap.

So many TV shows stealing Fables' shtick and still no one will adapt Fables...

Hobbit: Battle of the Five Endings. Good Christ Orcs are easy to kill.
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

Why were there orcs in the movie?
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Why were there orcs in the movie?

Because they showed up at the last moment to try and claim the treasure in the book.
First Maxim - "There are only two amounts, too few and enough."

Second Maxim - "Be willing to exchange a bad idea for a good one."
Second Corollary - "You can only be wrong or agree with me."

A terrorist which starts a slaughter quoting Locke, Burke and Mill has completely missed the point.
The fact remains that the only person or group to applaud the Norway massacre are random Islamists.

For some reason I thought they were goblins in the book.

Turns out Ide's been writing reviews for years:

On Shrek 2:
QuoteHighly class conscious characters including Pinocchio watching television immediately see through the pigdom's entertainment media...
The film explores the subjective notion of "cuteness" and ends up throwing the whole notion to the wind, much to the chagrin of the gender aristocracy and gender bureacracy everywhere...
We only hope that there is a "Shrek 3," in which the newly-weds rampage through the rest of the society and culture. Otherwise the message will be that society has to be attacked just for the love of two people. Misguided people may watch this movie instead of doing something about the carnage in Iraq and when it comes their turn, they may lash out in violence "in the name of love." That's why there needs to be a "Shrek 3" in which the united workers of all species liberate themselves. We'd also point out to viewers that our heroes never killed anyone just for "love." Good riddance to the Fairy Godmother: she had it coming for a lot of reasons.

I imagine Shrek 3 was a disappointment.

Their video game reviews are not to be missed as well.
