I think I might have snuck out of some chick movie that I went with a group to, then snuck into some action movie or other playing at the googloplex.

Brian Cox is a lot creepier than Anthony Hopkins, but it's not in the same league as Silence; Clarice is a much more interesting character, Foster a better actress, Todd Levine's performance is one of the creepiest in movie history.  It's also a lot more convincing than any other serial killer performance in the Lecter movies.

I prefer Cox to Hopkins (especially after Hannibal) but I love the way Manhunter's shot and its whole atmosphere. It's wonderful slightly scuzzy 80s noir.

Also, a little controversially, I prefer Will Graham to Clarice.

It's pure Michael Mann, and that is a good thing.
And yes, Will Graham is a substantially more complex character than Clarice, with her good bag and her cheap shoes.

I prefer Cox over Hopkins, particularly as he becomes more campy as the films progress, but Mads Mikkelsen smokes them both, hands fucking down.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Was unconvinced that I'd enjoy it - but really made for a fun and clever film. Probably could have done with an extra 30 minutes being edited off, but minor quibble.

Never walked out, no.  I mean once I made the effort to go to a movie, no point in leaving,  and $12 is $12 after all.

I have fallen asleep though.

Planet of the Apes, the remake. I remember went out for steak and wine before the movie. I was snoring 15 minutes in.

The 2000, Tim Burton remake had its charms.  Costume and production design for two.  Cool wirework.  And Tim Roth again.  Plus, I enjoyed the timefuckery once I figured it out.

Its apocalyptic anti-humanism delighted me.  Also, if King Kong didn't, it marked the perfection of Andy Serkis' craft.

Money: Dawn is indeed primed to be the shit, although the replacement of directors worries me.  I also would've liked to have seen James Franco's face fall off from virus.  Not because I dislike James Franco, but because I think it'd be fun.
