@ Meri, I know you do.  I should be more careful to not make broad generalizations about Americans.  My anger is fully focused on the fucktards.  I apologize if you and other of our sane population felt included in my rants.
Thank heavens we don't have state's re opening stuff already......

Not sure Americans have much to give thanks about atm.
Sarcasm my friend. Texas and Florida have loosened some restrictions just in time for the weekend. Apparently

Weird. The only announcement I got was that the Governor had ended the school year,
Quote"This is a Russian warship. I propose you lay down arms and surrender to avoid bloodshed & unnecessary victims. Otherwise, you'll be bombed."

Zmiinyi defenders: "Russian warship, go fuck yourself."

So, we're not a monolith, unlike some nations. My state, Oregon, has been aggressively on the ball about COVID-19, and our numbers show it. The governor is not making any noise about opening things up anytime soon, and we're actually doing fine. Same with Washington and California. This is all despite the despot in the White House.

While you're buys watching "US numbers", I'm busy watching Oregon numbers. While you're busy watching the idiot in the White House, I'm paying attention to our very good Governor here. Yes, it can and will eventually affect us, but it will never be a wave of COVID here like it has been elsewhere, like, say, Florida. I know others here are saying the same about some of their states.

He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

reading up it is his announcement to start reopening in ten days or so. Florida on the other hand was reopening beaches today.

Except we actually are one country even if the despot thinks we are 50 little countries for him to bully around with HIS ventilators and HIS resources.  Murphy in New Jersey moved pretty aggressively - he shut down right after CA and a couple days before Oregon, but it's a small, densely packed state near New York and Westchester that is dependent on commerce for basic goods. And unfortunately, the virus does not seem aware of state lines.

Isn't katmai home-schooled? Imagine a nation of katmais. I'd call them a lost generation but they'd be hard to miss.

Hey now.  Home school isn't so bad.   :punk:

Which is bullshit considering we didn't get to decide which tax return they applied.

Sure we did.  If we filed a 19 we get it based on 19 income.

Who could have predicted such a thing?

QuoteThe bump in coronavirus cases is most pronounced in states without stay at home orders. Oklahoma saw a 53% increase in cases over the past week, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Over same time, cases jumped 60% in Arkansas, 74% in Nebraska, and 82% in Iowa. South Dakota saw a whopping 205% spike.

QuoteHoly hell.

Today, Florida set a record of new coronavirus cases: 1,413 in the last 24 hours.

Florida's total cases is now 24,753.

Today,
@GovRonDeSantis
allowed beaches back open.

Nice election boost for Biden, assuming these are mostly Republicans.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Lots of people from the Northeast retire to Florida.

What's the deal with Belgium? Almost 500 dead per million, looks worse than Spain and Italy.
Short answer: they tested less.
Long answer: it's complicated.

It strikes very hard among black&hispanics communities.  I don't think that is disconnected from the Republican wishes to reopen everything.

Seriously, reopening is not the way to go before the virus is largely under control.  If you reopen prematurely, you just risk the virus coming back.  That prolongs the damage and suffering, both in terms of lives lost and financial loss.  See what happened to Hokkaido.  They thought they had it under control, reopened the economy, a second wave hit them, and they had to close down again.  Better to make sure it won't come back.
