Mongers post is about the ONS survey. It's a random sample to estimate prevalence and is always a week out of date. So that was the prevalence last week (ending 19 March). Worryingly there are intentions to end this survey which I think is a huge mistake because now we've set it up I think it's incredibly helpful and could be easily re-purposed for other illnesses/the next pandemic.

The more up-to-date reporting is on the dashboard (https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/). The cases there are, as Jos says, only those that are reported so an underestimate but the hospitalisation and death figures are obviously far more comprehensive because it's basically the NHS/death certificates, though hospitalisation is lagged by four days.

Sweden's current wave appears to have peaked around the time restrictions were lifted (early February), and numbers (ICU and death) have been going down since.

I'm now over 50% sure I've got/recently had it.

Wave here is in steep decline which is not surprising given a majority of the entire population has been formally diagnosed with covid. Death rates for the last 3 weeks have been high, comparatively speaking, since it's swept through our vaccinated oldies, but until the total death rate for this year has been calculated we won't know for sure. Tragically a 2 year old has died, parents lived in a remote fishing village, seemingly got bad advice on the phone and waited too long to seek more advanced medical help.

At this point I'll take it, we've literally done all that is humanly possible in a very rich country context.

I haven't been around other people since I got covid so it would have needed to be hiding out while I had covid?
