I see that as evidence that mask are working. We would be 200+ without the mandate.

we weren't 200+ before the mandate, and the curve has remained similar for a month now.
it's kinda like putting automated police radar on highways and congratulate yourself for having less road traffic injuries when they weren't occurred there to begin with.
or boasting the merits of hydroxychloroquine to cure 100% of covid-19 affected patients by deliberately excluding the sick and dead ones.
or saying echinacea cured your cold in 7 days.
or claiming ginger and vitamin D will prevent infection by covid-19 because you ate ginger and drank milk everyday since march and have not catched it yet.

Heard a pretty easy and convincing explanation on the telly for the fairly low number of hospitalisations compared to recent increases in cases: it's mostly young people testing positive, in the 15-39 age bracket. Issue is if they manage to yolo it to the older generations.

That's how the second wave got started here. And yes, it has reached older patients, though not in the same numbers as the first wave.

I can't really speak to the rest of this post, but the above line I can. A mask mandate in the US is really more of a suggestion anymore. After multiple assaults in grocery stores and various other places, many minimum-wage employees have simply stopped asking people to wear the masks. I would guess that only about 75% of the people in any store I've gone into in the past month are wearing masks properly. I've witnessed several people remove their masks so they can hear.

So if you're saying that a mask mandate is your proof, you might look elsewhere. The US is not a good candidate.

I'm in and out of stores and restaurants all day every day and I rarely see anyone without a mask unless they're sitting at a table in a restaurant.
