Felony murder is always a bogus charge and most of those people were just wilding. Besides, do you really want to make them martyrs?

In any case, no one's dead yet, according to the Capitol Police.  Hopefully it's a completely false rumor, and not just a case of someone in bad shape being declared dead prematurely.

Peace in our time.

As much fun as it would be to declare war against right wing idiots, it would require some serious rewriting of our laws to do so.

NPR said the officer was disconnected from life support and died. Now they are retracting that report. Maybe they disconnected him and he unexpectedly continued to breathe on his own.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

The Minsky Moment

Congress is pissed.  The backlash here is worse than the impeachment.  I think Trump just found out what actually will turn his people against him.  All it it took was two senate seats, 360,000 American lives and launching a fucking coupe.

Not to quibble but I think the rioters vandalized a sedan not a coupe.

The Minsky Moment

Most of the Vandals were addled dupes cynically deployed as the catspaws of the real villains: Il Trumpuce, Rudolph Hess-Giuliani, Michael Sin Like Flynn, Sidney "Release the Crackers" Powell, etc.  Examples must be made pour discourager les autres, like the Asshole from Arkansas and Florida Man, but we we don't need to track down each and every deplorable and the 10 year max charge of federal insurrection should suffice w/o mucking around with felony murder shenanigans.  The real question is what consequences the people who are truly responsible will face.  If the Shaman does hard time but Rudy escapes Trial By Jury we will have failed.

The problem with declaring criminal charges against your own side as always "bogus" and claiming that prosecuting your allies as an effort to "make them martyrs" is that everyone plays that game.

If felony murder is a "bogus" as other murder charges and charging murderers with murder is going to "make them martyrs," I can live with that.  Better that than mourning more dead innocents later.

Ok, not going to play Grumbler's bullshit games today. Nope.

I was listening to n NPR interview earlier with a Republican political strategist who worked on the 2020 congressional races, and he was appalled by the events yesterday.  But he had an interesting take on what the problem was.  He claimed that the problem was that too many Americans had been inculcated with the romantic fantasy that there were vast dark forces that could only be stopped by individual brave deeds.  Basically, that the Q conspiracy shit was just Tolkien wrapped in a modern veneer.

That explains a lot to me:  Buffalo-head guy, Eddie Teach, doddering old woman, etc.  They believe that they are Frodo, Dorothy, Luke Skywalker, etc reborn.

You are not going to get away with your bullshit games, bucko.  We are on to you.

When I call AR a Trumpeter, I am just joking.  Not so with you.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I foresee about 3,000 books written by people in the White House about the last few weeks.

Yeah, I was thinking that even after the election. If I was a White House staffer I would be taking notes furiously.

I want less violence as well.  I would endorse working with Mitch and other Republicans who aided and abetted Trump for years to lower the temperature in this country.  But Trump needs to go before we can really do something.  Frankly his cult needs to be shown that Trump is through.  Peace is good, and we should be willing to pay a high prices for it, but any peace where Trump still commands loyalty in the GOP is an illusionary peace.

I want the fucker behind bars.

Nah...you probably won't get Trump, so you have to go all Nuremberg and get his enablers. Mitch is one of them.
