It's fair to characterize a 14% probability (if that's what it is) as unlikely.

QuotePro-Trump mob chases lone Black police officer up stairs in Capitol – video

A journalist captured the moment a lone Black police officer was confronted by pro-Trump supporters who had stormed into the US Capitol in what some lawmakers condemned as an attempted insurrection aimed at overturning the results of the presidential election.

A politics reporter at HuffPost, Igor Bobic, filmed the officer as he was chased up the stairs of the building by Trump loyalists who objected to the certification of Joe Biden as the next president, which was taking place in Congress during a joint session. Four people died during the violent occupation

ID based on video alone is pretty tough.

Anecdotally there have been a bunch of IDs already.  Never underestimate the ability of thousands of ordinary people with time on their hands and armies of press interns to use google to ID idiots who splash photos of their crimes all over social media.

Well sure.  I have no end of files where a CCTV still gets circulated around the police station and some cop says "Hey I know that guy".

WHen it comes time to prove that ID in a court of law it's a bit different.

If the authorities were interested they would have arrested them at the Capitol.

How useful are things like cellphone activity for cases like that?

Very useful!

It requires a fair bit of grunt work as you have to put that particular cell # in that particular person's hands, but that can go a long way to proving ID.

Not ask how often I get that on a, say, liquor store robbery. <_<

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

This really bring home how much of the Tumpist movement is social media driven.  Look at what they are all doing...

I looked this guy.  He's a fucking Nazi or something.

Well, he did pardon Nixon, but I don't think that makes him a Nazi.

;)

After the Buffalo Hat Guy in the speaker's chair this is the weirdest picture for me  (I'm from Gerald Ford's hometown of Grand Rapids, MI.)  Ford was the only president from Michigan, which I believe is where the guy in the photo is from; but he seems like a really unlikely role model for the MAGA crowd as he was nothing like Trump in temperament, and I doubt anyone considers the mid-70s the period when America was great.  (Ford actually said "The State of the Union is not good" in his 1975 State of the Union Address.)
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Yeah, they said that the situation at Parler (the alt Right Twitter alternative) was ironic yesterday and today, with half the users claiming that the Capitol assault was an antifa false flag operation and the other half posting their selfies inside the building.

A fascist mob organized by neo-nazis via big tech company products, trying to reverse a democratic election and end democracy.
