Count the moaning was the only one who got that right.

Zoupa took 50 clams off me.

Because you gave him long odds iirc. Or was that Guller?

I thought 538 was a lot more circumspect than most sites in predicting the election results.  Didn't they give HIllary something like a 60% chance of winning, while other places gave her a 99% chance?

Yeah, of all the major political sites they were the ones that went closest IIRC. The scenario they built up for a Trump win is kinda what happened (that if Hillary were to lose a firewall state, she would lose several).

Democrats picked a bad fight to go down with the ship.

They really had no choice if they were concerned with something like getting re-elected.

Besides when the nuke option gets brought out constantly the filibuster ceases to really be a powerful force anyway, might as well just get rid of it.

Elections have consequences.  Anyway Gorsuch is a really solid nominee and Yi is right-- Dems picked the wrong battle.

Yep.  And all the morons that don't understand statistics were pissed off when she lost, and showed such by acting like 60-70% = guaranteed win.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

And they also said Hillary would win.

To be fair so did you. Repeatedly. :P

I was hedging my bets.  I'm the eternal pessimist when it comes to elections and sporting events.

I don't think they picked it. Trump is to toxic to compromise with. They don't have the guts or leadership to take a stand without being forced by external factors.

Bullshit. No you weren't. You were heckling me to STFU since my candidate was sure to win.

What was more pathetic than the filibuster attempt IMO is that the Dems could not really enunciate any solid reason to not confirm Gorsuch.

Did they manage at least  flimsy pretext like he Republicans did for Garland?

Okay, I think we agree the filibuster was going to be nuked sooner or later.

The thing is, the Dems could have waited until it was a truly unpopular, unqualified nominee and have gotten a much bigger political "pop".

Plus, and I think I've complained about this before.. sometimes democratic complaints are about how Trump is a uniquely unqualified person for the Presidency.  And that's an argument that can appeal to a lot of moderates and even a number of Republicans.  But sometimes democratic complaints about Trump are that he is a republican - and that's the only knock you can make about Gorsuch - that he's a conservative.  Taking a stand on Gorsuch appeals to their liberal base, but can act to drive moderate republicans right back to Trump.

Or maybe I was just heckling you to STFU :P :P

Anyway, there were moments where I was convinced she would win.  Other moments, like when I heard her campaign was going to pull out of Ohio and the late October Comey thing, I thought Trump would win.  Throughout probably most of the campaign I thought she would win.  The morning of election day I thought Trump had close to a 50% chance but was prepared for a Hillary win.

If Trump had given them any out at all, any possible political cover to cooperate with him, they would because they are gutless. But to do so would set themselves up to be destroyed in a primary so this is what we get.

Also, is it just me or does Gorsuch look like he should be hosting America's Funniest Home Videos??

Eat fetus shit and miscarry yourself, niggerhater.  The GOP mouthbreathers have wanted majoritarianism for years, now they have it.
