The Trumpanic is a bit amusing. He'll do 4-8 and then he'll be gone. Meawhile in Sweden we have a hydra of a Socialist government that literally has said that profit is theft and do their damndest to shut down quality schools and hospitals because EVIL COMPANIES.

Yeah.  I mean Trump WAS NOT my guy (#NeverTrump).  But he was properly elected.  Could we at least wait for him to do something before the massive protests start?

Everyone was (properly) jumping on Trump for not promising to abide by the election results.  Everyone was (properly) criticizing Trump for questioning Obama's right to be President.  But don't these critiques go both ways?

My guess is that that a lot of these Trumpanickers are Millennials that only started paying attention to politics in the Obama era and just sort of assumed that every general election will go their way.  And they're throwing a massive tantrum.

The right wing nutters threw one that lasted years and years. And many of them were old.

I think some people in our politics are just unhinged.

Of course it does. Some self awareness on both sides would be nice.

Fair point.  I don't remember them rioting, though.

I have seen protests. Where were the riots?

I am one of those who thinks there needs to be systemic, even radical, reform in our political system.

often needed, almost always dangerous. So much can go wrong and before you know it you have a French Revolution or Oktober Revolution on your hands. Or hell, even an Arab Winter.

But as it is: the 21st century, at least the first half, is shaping up to be a revolutionary period.

Insurance companies are in the business of collecting premiums, not paying out claims.  I mean, duh.

And they have it set up to where you are compelled to buy those worthless policies. Really annoying.

I mean unless you can just buy your house in cash.
May I introduce some facts into this mindless rant?  In 2014, property and casualty insurance industry collected $494B in premiums, paid out $341B in losses, and spent $139B on underwriting expenses.

I just know I am paying more and getting less for my money. Is it mindless to be upset about that?

Sorry about them only making 14 Billion. That has to hurt.
Do you know the loss cost of your policy?  I'm guessing that no, you don't.  So it is a bit uninformed to say that you're getting less for your money.  But I'm pretty sure that the loss cost of your policy is much greater than zero, so it is downright mindless to say that it is worthless.

Yeah, this pretty much sinks any credibly claim to the myth of American exceptionalism.

America has graduated to being a normal country, like all the other ones.
Don't think that graduation will be a benefit to the world.  :(

It wasn't worthless back in 2014 though. It kind of is now. It seems incredibly unlikely I would have a claimable loss moving forward with the endorsements to my policy.

derspeiß uses the Rule of 3: 3 or more protesting minorities in any comination is a technically a riot, and therefore justifies the use of deadly force.

I guess all that vandalism was just random, then

mongers

Interesting that a few here are so rapidly normalising the situation, given what they and others have said on here in the last 48 hours about a Trump presidency.

Remember he's laid in plain sight his personality over the last 18 months, can anyone be in much doubt that he's a supreme egoist, who the American electorate have handed powerful tools to shape the country and cause chaos in the world if he so wishes.

I'd go so far as to say that his administration will evolve into a proto-fascist regime, at some point a minority, perhaps one already targeted in this campaign will be scapegoated as a cause for the inevitable failure of this or that Trump policy. And they'll be much else that is arbitrary or vindictive in terms of domestic policy and when dealing with foreign states.

No doubt he'll make most of the correct sounds about moderating his policies over the next two months, wear some rather snazzy suits and display surprising good political table manner as the reins of power are handed over, but come January there's going to be a rather brief honeymoon before the bride discovers the full range of his wilfulness and abusive behaviour.

I hope your lawyers are good enough to utilise the laws to their fullest to help protect American citizens from this special overlord, because one or two of you are beginning to sound like lobsters accepting their fate in the kitchen of a Trump towers property. You'll find the decor, whilst not to your taste at least distracting enough for you to forget the gradually rising temperature.
