She's asked by Jeff Sessions – yes, that Jeff Sessions, who is now Trump's nominee for attorney general – whether she could say no to a president who wanted to do something unlawful.

Here's part of the exchange:

Sessions: Do you think the attorney general has a responsibility to say no to the president if he asks for something that's improper? ... If the views the president wants to execute are unlawful, should the attorney general or the deputy attorney general say no?

Well Junior Mints are at least pleasant some of the time. Dippin' Dots are generally a waste of one's cash.

She knew she was going to get fired over this (see "Saturday Night Massacre") but thought she could go out sounding as noble as possible.  Asking for more time with 4 hours left in your term in office is weak sauce.

it's not "weak sauce" to do your job as authorized under constitutional authority. her "independent power" is saying "ehh, that's illegal, I'd do [XYZ]" or "ehh, that's not illegal, you're good to go." she didn't have constitutional authority to order the entire DOJ to simply not defend it.

Actually, she did.  Merely asserting over and over again that she lacks independent authority is not persuasive in the least; I'd recommend you not try that on a judge or jury.

I do kind of wish the Trump-resistance would cut down on the Hitler talk. I know it is traditional and every President is Hitler, but I feel like it makes you sound a bit um...not to be taken seriously? Similar to the other people who constantly compared all the other Presidents to Hitler?
