I doubt he'll live till the next election.
Which is a worry honestly. Not just playing hyperbole games but this is something Trump has in common with Hitler, the precise things that made him so dangerous for getting into power make him good to have in power. A more competent Hitler/Trump would never have gotten into a position of power in the first place.
But neatly remove Trump from the equation with sudden death then suddenly you have in power someone just as menacing as him but less likely to be distracted from directly targeting a keystone of democracy by some crap he heard on TV that morning.

The most consequential immediate impact will turn on how seriously and how effectively a Trump administration will act to dismantle the Federal bureaucracy.  That's an area where the President can do an enormous amount of lasting damage without much in the way of Congressional oversight or control (assuming that a Congress exists to exert such oversight).

The plan is already in place.  And it is a Vance priority.  So this doesn't much depend on Trump doing anything but signing.
