The Minsky Moment

Keep a careful watch on what happens to bank capital regulation.  If the new administration relaxes the regs, the risks of a financial crisis, already elevated, will increase.
The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists.

Yes, and that may be the least of what causes a financial crisis over the next 4 years.

That whole line of thinking is just asinine.  If you wonder why this ongoing push is pissing a lot of people off, then you're out of touch as 50% of the country just voted for it.  *shrug*

Thank you, Mr. Why-Isn't-There-A-White-History-Month. :P

2 are still on the table.

This time :

Mass deportation camps for all sorts of people with immigrant background. Current US citizenship won't save you. Watch out DG.
I have a hard time predicting all the damage Elmo is going to do. FEMA's fucked. So is the EPA.
Fluoride is gone.
Pharmaceutical companies are going to have to buy the Trump family everything they want to offset RFKJR anti-vaccines policies and keep selling those products.
Video games are going to get sensored.
Porn is going to be made illegal.
The Official Church of the USA is going to be esthablished/named. Sucks to be a Muslim.
Net Neutrality will once again be gone.
TikTok won't be banned & XI will get access to even more US data. Sucks to be a Chinese dissident.

There's no way Mr "Grab 'em by the pussy" and guy who slept with Stormy Daniels is going to ban porn.

He also paid people to get abortions and didn't mind appointing justices to overturn Roe.  He doesn't care how other people live, he has enough money/power to get around any such restrictions.

Although I doubt he'll ban porn he might make ID to access a national law.

Do as I say, not as a I do. Lobbyist just have to flatter the emperor and you'd be surprised what they can get away with.

Yep.  Laws are for the little people, not him.  This is a guy who constantly says, accurately, that he can do whatever he wants and get away with it.  He's a lifelong con artist and he's never going to actually get comeuppance for his behavior.  It's maddening.

But it's not just Trump himself.  It's who is voting for him.

Do you know one group he had real success with by all accounts?  Young males.  They don't want porn banned.

Trump also knows he has "evangelicals" in his pocket by this point.

Trump didn't deport citizen adults in his first term and he's not going to in his second term. Get over it.

Reread the article with a genuine understanding of that "birthright citizenship" and "deportation" mean with attention to how those ideas relate to each other.

It is going to be fun watching the USSC tie themselves in a knot to approve of Trump blatantly violating the Constitution via executive order.  They'll do it, but there isn't (insofar as I know) a phrase in the Federalist papers that will allow them to justify it, like there was for making him Emperor.

The USSC is going to be interesting.

Because Trump 100% appointed conservative ideologues to the court - but not necessarily blindly loyal to Trump.  They went along with things like Presidential immunity because that's been a widely circulated idea in conservative legal circles for years.

So it's not clear to me that the court would go along with ending birthright citizenship by executive order.  But who knows?
