he's a former PM of Belgium that betrayed his entire program to the PS (the paleo-socialist party that has run Wallonia for 30 years -if not longer- running it into the ground because others are paying the bill), sold copious amount of State-infrastructure in very expensive sale-and-lease-back operations and then ran to Europe (after costing his party half of it's voters) where he now shits on everyone that is unquestioningly pro-EU, anti-nationstate and anti-nationalism. All the while ignoring the irony that he's a euro-nationalist wanting to turn the EU into a state (for which there is no majority anywhere). Basically he's another reject of national politics that doesn't know when to stop or shut up.

Well not that specifically but more that it sounds like an extreme version of fucked up US policies. Sounds like Britain wants to circle the wagons and severely restrict immigration with I guess some pie in the sky thinking that all of that work can easily be taken up by British citizens.

Well yeah.

People should read the signs. When May went to Japan, it was almost as if the Japanese PM was letting her know what is needed to make sure Japanese firms continue to stay in the UK - surely this doesn't align with Leaver fantasies of Empire 2.0?

My worry is that for the inevitable economic downturn (which hopefully will be only on the short term), the fault will not lie with these bad policies: it will be the migrants, as usual in these situations.

As a really minor note it also shows the total lack of direction within the government. By around the same time this document was circulated within the government, they were already confirming that there would be no "cliff edge", and there would be a transitional period when the UK remains in the single market. But that is impossible when your migration plan is to enact restrictions on Day 1.

Similar salary as 2 years ago, despite the drop of the pound. Uncertainty as to my visa, unemployment and pension compatibility .... Yeah, not interested.
