They were up, but were swept by Boston.  Doesn't exactly inspire confidence.  They have a series against the Diamondbacks next though, so unless they totally fold, they should pick up some Ws there.

E:  Speaking of no confidence, the Rangers have churned out a torrid 5-5 over their last 10.  Still 9 games up though, since everyone else in the division seems to be doing just about the same thing.

I guess we can say confidently that Corey Kluber recovered from whatever the hell was going on first half last year, should be in the AL Cy mix.  Also very nice return to form by Verlander.

Also just for fun, some random facts about Joey Votto:

+ Votto's lifetime on-base % is .424.  That is higher than anyone is hitting in the NL just in this season . . . other than Joey Votto, of course.
+ Out of everyone who was played since WW2, the only player with a higher lifetime OBP is Barry Bonds.
+ Votto has a lifetime BABIP (Batting avg on balls in play) of .358.
+ Rod Carew's lifetime BABIP was .359
+ Of all players with more than 4000 plate appearances, the only ones with higher BABIPs were Cobb, Hornsby and a few 19th century guys (Keeler, sliding Billy Hamilton, and Jesse Burkett)
+ One contributor to the BABIP is the fact the Votto only 15 infield flies.  In his entire career
+ He's hit only 6 infield flies in the last 7 years.  Less than 1 per year.

I know I am a sucker who will never learn but damn. I am so excited for the game tomorrow night. Cannot wait to watch the birds take down those other more northerly birds.
