So it seems in Istanbul I didn't get blown up but I was subject to biological warfare.
Such a cold :(

Damn I'm tired; trying to fit too much into any given day?

Like why am I still baking a cake gone midnight.  :hmm:

Most relevant for US Americans, but I'm sure the ROTW will have to chime in as well:

Phone in/Pick up food in person.  Do you tip?  If so how much?  I never do but the cute little Chinawoman who gave me my food tonight seemed most disappointed in me.

Jaron

I don't see why you'd tip for just buying food. I tip for delivery or if I'm waited on.
Winner of THE grumbler point.

If it's a sit-down restaurant, some people tip for pickup. The curbside parking seems to encourage it.

I see no reason to tip if you're picking up an order.

OK, so sometimes there's a reason.

For delivery I tip the change.
£9.65 becomes a straight 10.
A similar rule is followed for restaurants however there if the tip would be pennies on tens of pounds then a few extra quid are added.

Same here. In restaurants just leave the change unless it's a big check, in which case a few extra € are added. No hard and fast rule. Certainly *not* US-level tips though.

Most people around here won't leave tips on pickups though, it's not expected but meh, I have had a lots of friends working in catering and it's shitty pay.

The Brain

Since you never use cash there is no change for people to keep. In Sweden I only regularly tip at restaurants (not fast food or similar).
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

I never understood the argument that links the need to tip to shitty pay in catering industry. Change the job then!

Martinus

Anyway, I try to tip 10-20 zloty on a delivery of my groceries, if the delivery guy is cute. But as in Sweden, you have an option to pay with a card and I always use it so I just keep some spare cash for tips.
