Just met celedhring here in Barcelona for lunch. Had one of these great free-ranging conversations you recall years later. Celedhring is tall for a Spaniard and looks like he lifts, which is rare for a local. Would want him on my side in a bar fight

Do tell us who was on the list of those discussed?  :P

The West is perfectly correct in projecting erotic overtones upon maids, but the immodest and depraved tone they take with it is a cultural tragedy. The overly revealing clothing and attendant brazenly wanton attitude with which America depicts maids is a horrible take on a wonderful premise.

The lewdness of their outfit lends the Maid too much agency in the lust she is subjected to, while simultaneously ruining her for more respectable activities. A maid should have modest clothes that suggest demure purity, with a personality to match.
It can't be helped...We'll have to use 'that'

Anyone seen Kronn recently, he hasn't posted in a while?

I hadn't logged into the forum in a while, a few weeks or more.   :)  I think I've been a bit pre-occupied with other stuff, like planning out how/when I'm retiring and the realization of the change of life that will be. Tentatively planning on it in about a year, maybe at the end of this year.

KRonn good to hear from you, I was about to PM you, worried the New England winter might have finally got to you.  :P

Planning is a good thing in my book, though I tend to find it brings the present in to sharp relief!  :D

QuoteWe need to *talk* to each other, rationally.

In relation to this, there are so many examples I can offer.

Once I worked with this Indonesian bloke who turned out to be virulently anti-semitic. I asked him if he'd ever met a Jewish person before and he said "no", so I replied "Well, now you have" (in fact there was two of us at the workplace, a Muslim country btw). He really liked me and he really liked his boss, a Swedish guy who, like me, could speak Hebrew. To this day we stay in touch and consider each other good friends.

Once I was with a Polish friend of mine who was utterly shocked at seeing two men kiss each other outside a bar in Poland. I explained to him that they're probably a couple and that was a display of affection, as people do ......

If his boss was Bmo, he should have spent that time learning Hebrew on his English instead.  ;)

We had a pretty light winter here. Just a few small snowstorms, and not really too much very cold weather.

Yes, planning is good. I'm trying to be smart about my next steps.   :)

Maybe so. My brother and his wife bought a  small place in Florida for spending winters there. They love it in winter!

QuoteBlack mail carrier handcuffed by NYPD while delivering packages, video shows

Glen Grays, a postal worker in Brooklyn, had his delivery route cut short on St. Patrick's Day when he was handcuffed by four plainclothes police officers and placed in an unmarked car.

Cellphone video filmed by a bystander shows Grays in his postal service uniform, holding a package, when the officers approach him. The video doesn't show what led up to the encounter.

The footage was released this week by Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, who said Grays had been "carrying out his normal duties" as a mail carrier when he got out of his truck and "a vehicle passed by him, almost striking him."

"He made comments to the vehicle, as any New Yorker would," Adams said at a news conference Wednesday. "The occupants of the vehicle stopped, backed up when he was crossing the street delivering the package."

Those occupants were the four plainclothes officers who followed Grays to his delivery stop, according to Adams. The video shows the officers tell Gray to "stop resisting." They then take him away in handcuffs, leaving his mail

Grays, who said he was issued a summons for disorderly conduct, is engaged to a New York police officer he met while on his delivery route, the New York Times reported.
