I am currently looking for an insurance that will pay you a small annuity if you suffer from occupational disability. I have to say that it makes me hate humanity and especially lawyers and insurance people. Every fucking insurance company has special clauses and different options etc. and that makes it impossible to compare different offers. WTF. I would much rather spend my time staring at a wall or so. Don't you lose the will to live if you have to think about that shit day in day out, DGuller?

Over here you definitely get covered if its a workplace injury (through the Workers Compensation Board), and most companies offer a more generic Long Term Disability for injuries/disabilities that are not work-related.

No, I don't get that from my employer. I don't think you usually get that from your employer here. My employer is very good as far as social stuff goes so I think they would have it, if it was common.

There is some state social security for everybody, but that's pitifully low. If you want to at least keep your standard of life at a reasonable level if you can't work anymore, you need this insurance. And statistics say that about 25% of all Germans are not able to work until the normal pension age.

The Argie to normal people ratio in my household increased to 2:2 last night.  My sister-in-law flew in and will be with us for the next 3 weeks.  For anyone who can remember, she was here 5 years ago and spent nearly all her time on the computer IM'ing with her trashy low-life boyfriend and being a depressed, spoiled brat. 

She has apparently matured a bit (she's 24 or 25 now so I would hope so), so hopefully this time around will be a bit better.  At the very least, she's gonna be my kid's nanny for her time here so that means I don't have to do the normal detour on my way home from work to pick him up.

Should any thread-worthy shenanigans ensue, however, I'll let you people know.
