In Leipzig, 6,000 Napoleonic re-enactors gathered this past weekend to commemorate the Battle of Nations 1813.

There were the usual German protesters that this would glorify war and nationalism. And the commentary sections of online news outlets are full of hand-wringing that the bloody battle is supposedly turned into a show event. "War is not a Game!" is the tenor of the majority of comments, or, "Why commemorate such a horrible day???". Some ask why there's no colorful, fun re-enactment of the battles of Stalingrad or Verdun.
