The Detroit Casinos pay 24% of their earnings off the top; half to the D and half to the state of Michigan.

The problem with the Detroit Casinos is that they never brought businesses in beyond the casinos themselves.  There are three casinos.  Two of them are like fortresses; there's the casino and then there's miles of desolation.  One of them was built in Detroit's Greektown, which had what passes for nightlife in Detroit before the casino was built.

The cheapest I ever saw was low 300s or so as an introductory rate but it was far away. Last time I checked the garage near me was 425. And that'd be some bullshit given how frequently I use my car.

That's some quality of life right there.  Most people just have to step outside to get to their car.  You have to commute for probably at least half an hour just to get to your car.
