I'll figure something out.  There are other places in town.  I have a few months.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I'm hoping you find  place that's even better and look back on the eviction as a good thing.

Raz, take a look at whatever legislation regulates residential rentals and see if there is a prohibition against evicting a tenant who has raised a concern about safety or repairs that are needed.

Your state may not have that, but that sort of restriction is fairly common.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Fuck sorry to hear that Raz. Good luck with finding somewhere else and hope it is better.

There might be applicable local (county or city) laws as well. Some universities with legal studies departments have legal aid services that could help, either directly or by pointing you to someone that can help.

We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.
