Its not impossible but reading the story I doubt they had these luxuries.

Well I hope they mixed mortar, since you don't use concrete to build brick walls. Plus it's cheaper so if they can't afford a mixer like you're assuming they'd save a bundle using the right material.

Pre mixed mortar is a fair bit more expensive than mixing seperate bags of sand and cement to make concrete.
I assumed she did it as I do when I have to do some small scale work and just did it by hand with a shovel. Back breaking work.

Sand and cement IS mortar. Concrete is sand cement and gravel/aggregate. Source: my two years as an apprentice tiling and masonry. Trust me, lugging bricks around sucks way more.

And building house hand mixing mortar would be very dumb. If you can afford bricks, cement, and sand you can afford a cement mixer. New one is a few hundred bucks. Renting is cheaper still.

*edit* actually probably closer to just over a year. As a porkchop it's almost a right of passage to go into construction with my Portuguese brethren :D  . Sucks so bad I went back to school to be an accountant. Though construction makes good money everyone is broken by the time they're in their 40s unless they're smart enough to become foremen.

They probably had, on loan from friends or family if nothing else.

It's Ukraine not bronze age Urartu.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The AfD nominated their leading candidate for the Europe elections, Maximilian Krah:

Now, as a kid/teen in the 90s this name brings back memories. A cartoon series, Alfred J. Quack, based on a Dutch kids' book, had a character named "Kra", a crow antagonist who has an arc where he founds the National Crows Party and installs himself as dictator of the country (it was a bit trippy to watch this, it's basically like doing a care bears arc where a drug cartel takes over their home for a while - this comparison (well, simile, actually?) included for Jacob  ).

(If you think this is on the nose, the character is named "Dolf" in the original :P https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_J._Kwak)

After a long search I think I am settling on an Austrian brand of dark-roasted coffee beans.

I'm cautiously optimistic that we have unlocked a whole new part of the tech tree.
