Going to have my gall-bladder taken out next month  Spent the least 2 1/2 days in the hospital.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Someone in my family recently had their gallbladder removed. They were fine, though it took them a while to recover... mostly, I think, because they couldn't use their core muscles for a bit so the other muscles in the body (especially back) tensed up to compensate. It took maybe a week to get back close to normal. I don't think death was on the line, however.

Right now, all roads to Vancouver are cut off due to inclement weather. I don't think flying or sailing here would be that much fun either, right now.
