At the end of the day, statistically speaking, the people in that Citi building were less likely to be killed than people in other buildings.

The building wasn't a deathtrap, though.  Even flawed, it was safe except in near-hurricane winds, which don't come out of a clear blue sky.

I've never considered cheddar to have any particular cachet.  It's a process, yeah?

Absolutely I think regions like Champagne and Cognac should have a right to those names.  (BTW, what does PDO stand for?)  Same with Kobe beef and Parmesan cheese.

Authentic Greek feta cheese I could not care less about.

I've noticed an awful lot of wagyu in supermarkets here lately.
This strikes me as highly unlikely to be authentic. Sad it has no protection.

Most British Wagyu is half-blood, and not raised in the same way as it is in Japan.

A couple of years back I think there was only one pure-blood Wagyu herd in the UK.

New German prototype for an air mobile weapons platform (as possible replacement of the adorable Wiesel):

The prototype is currently called "full system demonstrator" or GESAMTSYSTEMDEMONSTRATOR

For reference, the Wiesel:

How often folks do major PC upgrades?
I think my PC is running games OK for now. My usual guage of when to upgrade being when I can't run something.
But I'm getting into video editing and am frequently low on RAM. Contemplating whether its worth buying new ram in a seeral year old computer or if its time for a motherboard and processor switch. :hmm:

I generally upgrade every four years, though I do a lot of data science work on my PC, so my requirements are probably heavier than most people's and the payoff for upgrading is higher.  I'm due for another upgrade now, but no way am I doing it at the moment, given the state of the market for all the computer components.

My last PC lasted 4 years without upgrades (with a 1080 GTX card). The one before was 3 years. This one will probably last me another 3 or 4 years. As for RAM, I've been going wiht 32 GB for the last few years, nd could easily upgrade. That said, I think video editing is quite RAM intensive, I think? Only ever dabbled with some basic stuff, an the rendering of the finished project was always :bleeding: even for short clips.

I'm on 16. I've been thinking this is a big slower with loading on some games like total war but always been disuaded from upgrading.

I'm not doing pro level editing, just dabbling with after effects and google earth studio for myself*, but yeah. Computer always shouting at me about not enough cache et al.

*trying to actually do something with my life. Have an idea for a few bits of local interest nerdiness ala all the stuff out there about urban development in London you see.

My oldest boy built me a new one last year.  I have no idea what is in it but everything runs faster.  It replaced one I had from about 6 years before that.  He kept that rig to set up a mining platform.

Yeah, get more ram.

It's a bad time to upgrade CPU/motherboard right now. And there's a chance it won't improve performance.

So, a couple of days ago, a guy in Graz was bitten by a python while sitting on the toilet. The animal had escaped its terrarium in the neighbor's apartment and had sn(e)aked through the pipes.

Today, an older woman found a python in her toilet in Vienna. Also today, police found a boa constrictor in bushes in another part in town. And today they also captured a tarantula in yet another part of town.
