I can see the source of Squeeze's confusion.

I would say each one of these building would qualify as "a strip mall."  But we generally don't have dedicated developments for conglomerations of strip malls.  We just plop them on highways on the outskirts of towns and cities.

The only place I would expect to see that kind of lay out in the US is at an outlet mall, which is where you have a bunch of stores selling last years models for 40% off.

Ah. So it's like Japanese cities. Didn't realise there was a specific kind of name for that idiocy. It does indeed suck. Japan was doing so well on that front as well until the early noughties when they reformed their retail law to allow for big box monstrosities.

Darn you lying Wikipedia.

I found this interesting. Police playing shitty major labsl music on their phones to trigger YouTube copyright bots if people try to upload recordings.

Today is my cats' Gotcha Day.  I brought them home one year ago today.  I bought them a cat tree.  A pole with three platforms attached that a cat can sit on and look out the window.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Bank ad using memes to mock other banks trying to be "cool" for young customers:

https://youtu.be/gyP8S5wwiGM

Translation (stolen from Reddit):
-"How do you do fellow kids?" (How do you do fellow kids?)-"Fuck off!" (Schleich dich!)
-"Well, if a bank does not speak youth slang, it will be quickly outdated." (Tja, wenn man als Bank die Jugendsprache nicht mehr spricht, ist man ganz schnell outdated)
-"50k Dislikes, one Like - This is fine" (50000 Dislikes, ein Like - This is fine)
-"But wouldn't it be damn cool if your bank could perform the floss? (Aber wäre es nicht verdammt cool, wenn deine Bank den Floss Dance könnte?)
-"Or be everywhere, where you browse" (Oder einfach überall da ist, wo du auch rumsurfst?)
-"With hilarious memes" (Mit witzigen Memes)
-"And funny guys" (und lustigen Typen)
-"That would be really smart, right, Harold?" (Das wäre echt smart, stimmts, Harold?)
-"No" (Nein)
-"Well, banks just don't get it" (Naja, Banken verstehen das einfach nicht)
-"Luckily, they don't have to, but at least we can handle money" (Müssen Sie zum Glück nicht, dafür verstehen wir aber was von Geld)
-"Doesn't pretend to be modern, it just is: Spark7" (Tut nicht auf modern, ist es einfach: Spark7)

Good choice Raz.

Maybe I should get the house cat something along those lines?

We have a cat tree for our cats - they love it. In our case, it is beside the couch, so the cats can join us - while hanging about up high, which they like.

Here's a short clip of them on their tree:

My in laws' reaction to this tree was hilarious. "Now the cats have their own furniture?!"
