I would go insane if I did that.

And, alas, it is no longer even possible to do that anymore.

It wasn't a non-stop journey 

Longest stretch was Toronto-Winnipeg, about 32 hours iirc. Also, I was 18 and on a shoestring budget.
Good times, but there's no way I would do it again. I'd take a train instead
