When I was very young in Malta, and when the island was still a British Aircraft Carrier, the Red Arrows used to do one of their air shows over the island. We used to climb up on our roof (flat tops) and they would do a fly over right above us. It was quite amazing.

Well their point, well their understandable point, was that women have issues breast-feeding in public in Paris for some reason. Is there some kind of ordinance against it?

I still think damaging the damn things was a bit ridiculous. They could have simply vandalized them with some spray paint or something and gotten their point across. But hey I don't know the whole history of the breast feeding thing or even what exactly Paris does to crack down on breast feeding.

Never heard of a crackdown on breast-feeding in Paris. It's not anglo-saxon puritan territory over here, remember.

As for dogs peeing in the streets, I wish they would organise a crackdown, or cull canine numbers by having a dog tax (quand on aime on ne compte pas !).
In the metro and the streets, that's mostly homeless people but not only, sadly.

Valmy

Even here under the dragon banner of the Anglo-Saxons we typically do not freak out too much over breast feeding. Public breast feeding is legally protected in most states.

Though I am sure some people say shit and post shit on social media. Because 10-20% of humans are insufferable assholes.

There is an issue with dogs peeing in the street?

As far as the rest of humanity, peeing is a basic biological need. Having nowhere to piss at night or having to pay (thinking of you UK train stations) seems rather problematic. And it doesn't help that obviously many businesses don't want non-customers to use their toilets.

France, in particular, annoyed me in that respect. It cost 2 Francs (I guess that is 25 Euro cents today or something) to use a businesses toilet typically, unless you were buying something.

Outside of the gutter, yes. Not to mention dogs defecating.

Dogs peeing in the gutter?

On poop, yes, definitely a big issue.

Holy fuck, the last few days, when opening the window, I get the smell of cold cigarette smoke, and I have no idea where it originates.

Saw this a while ago. Not getting the issue with these Paris loos. They have them in Amsterdam and they work well.
Just because women can't be included in this extra convenience we should ignore the problem of men pissing on the street? It's dumb.
Plus of course it helps free up actual public toilets for women, with more likely cleaner seats.

No it shouldn't be ignored: people just shouldn't be pissing on the street.
Yet the problem exists and isn't going away no matter how illegal it is.
These public urinals remove the bulk of the problem with people peeing on the street.

So Mrs B starts posting me about these tremendous sales she is seeing for lego - like 75% off.  Our boys adore lego, and Christmas is coming up, so this sounds perfect!  I ask where she sees them, she says the online lego store.  I go to check it out, but the sales I see are pretty small and only on some pretty lame sets.

So it turns out she's looking at legoca.com

Which looks super authentic.

But the real lego store canada is https://shop.lego.com/en-CA/

So a whois check reveals that legoca.com was only registered on August 29.  The Wayback machine similarly has no history for the site.

To bad - it's a scam.  Thankfully we caught it before we gave them a CC number.

Iowa City is comical about fake IDs.  Basically as long as you have one, the law is not going to touch the bar or the staff.  One little girl got turned away last night while I was smoking out front, and the bouncer said it was because she only had a xerox copy of the fake ID her friend had used just before her.
